Neighborhood

One of the city's best kept secrets for many years, Potrero Hill is a vibrant neighborhood with a down-home feel, boasting some of the city’s best weather and delivering a genuine sense of community.

2130 #A 24th Street is located on the southeastern quadrant of the neighborhood, within walking distance to the nearby Mission District (24th Street's dynamic shopping corridor is right nearby) and a short distance to the 18th Street and 20th Street shopping districts, which are the primary retail arteries for Potrero Hill.

18th and 20th Streets are lined with unpretentious cafés and restaurants, where you can sit at a sidewalk table for lunch and enjoy an awesome collection of esoteric magazines (Farley's "Community in a Cup"), take the kids out for pizza on the weekend (Goat Hill Pizza) or enjoy cocktails and French bistro dining in the evening (Chez Maman). Enjoy literature? Christopher's Books is a great independent bookstore while the public library on 20th Street comes with the best view in town and hosts workshops, playgroups and community events. Enjoy live music? Check out Bottom of the Hill for the latest attractions in an intimate setting that includes outdoor seating. Need groceries or catering for a big party? One of the largest and best stocked Whole Foods can be found right in the neighborhood. Local schools? Live Oak is one of the city's best private schools and is situated on Mariposa on the North Slope. There's a little bit of everything you need right here (on "The Hill," as locals like to say).

Residents tend to stay a long time in Potrero Hill - it's known for having a relatively low turnover of homes for rent or sale, and many families have been here for generations. Consequently, there tends to be a tighter sense of community here than in other parts of the city, making this a true gem of a neighborhood, and one where you might want to put down roots and spend the next few decades, too.

You'll recognize Potrero Hill in many movies and commercials. This is the jewel of San Francisco neighborhoods, with its myriad steep blocks, awe-inspiring views and quaint historic neighborhoods. 2130 24th Street, with its rarely-available cobblestones like a throwback to a European hillside village, might be one of the most attractive blocks of all!

Potrero Hill offers especially easy access to freeways and is relatively close to downtown compared to other residential neighborhoods in San Francisco. You can be in South Beach or the financial district in just minutes via 280 (traffic permitting). Getting out of the city for a commute to the Peninsula or to the airport is much easier than from other parts of the city, too. Caltrain and MUNI connections are nearby.

Nearby DogPatch and Mission Bay, with its rapid development (Uber Headquarters, UCSF's world-renowned Benioff Children's Hospital and the fabulous new Chase Center) have recently brought intense interest to the entire neighborhood of Potrero Hill. The parts of the Hill that are less commercial and purely residential in nature (such as 2130 24th Street) offer a convenient and attractive option for persons who work nearby at any of the medical / high-tech companies in Mission Bay or at General Hospital, for that matter.

If you're not already familiar with Potrero Hill, you're in for a treat. Ask me more about it, and I'll get you all dialed in to this very special and beloved San Francisco neighborhood!
